Professor Veronique Perdereau from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris presented the final results of the HANDLE project at King’s Building, Strand Campus, on February 13th, 2013.
HANDLE has involved the Centre for Robotics Research (CoRe) for 4 years, from 2009 to February 2013.
The presentation reported the initial project approach (improving dexterity, pre-shaping and grasping of robotics), the main objectives (transferring humans grasping strategy to artificial robotic hand and manufacturing human-like plug-in device), scientific drawbacks and challenges (sensor, actuation, intelligence) and the resulting tools available within the consortium (simulation environment with robotic hand-objects interaction).
