Biography

Guowu Wei is currently a Research Associate at the Centre for Robotics Research. He received his BSc in Mechatronics in 2002 and MSc in Mechanical Engineering in 2005 at Fuzhou University, China. He was appointed Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering in 2005 at Fuzhou University, China and joint King’s College London in December 2007. Being a staff PhD candidate, he worked as a Research Assistant since 2009 and received his PhD in Robotics in 2012. Since 2012, he has being working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Centre for Robotics Research at King’s College London.

Description of Research

Dr. Guowu Wei focuses on the research in the fields of mechanisms and robotics with their application in domestic service, industry and space exploration including:

  • Grasping theory & multi-fingered robotic hand
  • Origami-inspired mechanisms and robotics
  • Deployable mechanisms, robotics and structures
  • Metamorphic/Reconfigurable mechanisms and robotics
  • CAD/CAM/CAE
  • Smart mechanical transmission systems

Since 2009, Dr. Wei has been working for one DEFRA project, one ICUK project, one EPSRC project and three EU FP7 projects. He is currently involved in two EU projects, i.e. TOMSY, and V-FEATHER.
