Teppei Katori

I am an associate professor (reader) of King's College London. I am mainly working on the T2K (Tokai-to-Kamioka), Super-Kamiokande (Super-K), and Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) experiments in Japan, the IceCube Neutrino Obserbatory and IceCube-Gen2 in Antarctica, and the NuSTEC (Neutrino Scattering Theory-Experiment Collaboration) at Fermilab. The T2K is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment in Japan, sending neutrino beam from J-PARC to Super-K. Hyper-K is the third generation of Kamiokande experiment being built, and it will study beam neutrinos and natural neutrinos including solar, atmospheric, galactic supernova, and diffused supernova neutrinos. IceCube is an array of PMTs covering 1km cube of ice under the south pole to detect high energy neutrinos, IceCube-Gen2 is the future extension. The first stage of IceCube-Gen2, called IceCube-Upgrade, is being built. Finally, the NuSTEC is a collaboration of nuclear physicists and particle physicists, both theory and experiment, to promote and tackle with neutrino-nucleus scattering problems around 1-10 GeV.

In the past, I worked on the MicroBooNE , MiniBooNE , SciBooNE , and FINeSSE experiments, all at Fermilab. I am also interested in neutrino phenomenology, in particular I am interested in the search of new spacetime effect including violation of Lorentz invariance using neutrinos.

I graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology for the Bachelor of Science. I got my PhD from Indiana University, under the supervision of prof. Rex Tayloe. The PhD thesis is available here. Then I did 5 years postdoc at Conrad group in MIT Laboratory for Nuclear Science before I was appointed as a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. In 2019, I moved to King's College of London.
