Congratulations to Demi Pink for being awarded the inaugural Jacky Pallas Memorial Award. This award is memory of Jacky Pallas, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly earlier this year. Jacky was someone that I had the pleasure to interact with on several occasions in her role as head of e-Research at KCL, and I know there has been a large void here at King’s since her passing. Therefore I am extremely happy and proud that Demi was awarded this particular prize for her work in which she combines neutron scattering experiments (which she does under the supervision of her PhD co-supervisor, Prof Jayne Lawrence) , large scale molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning approaches to investigate the molecular scale mechanisms which play a key role in the self-assembly and drug encapsulation and release of lipid-based formulations. As the recipient of this award, Demi has been invited to give a talk at the upcoming Computing Insight UK 2019 conference (5 & 6 Decemeber 2019) in Manchester.
