Practical Information

Getting to King's

The conference will be held at the Strand Campus of King's College London. The closest tube station is Temple (Circle and District line), though this may not be the most convenient to reach from many places in London. Other stations closeby are Leicester Square(Piccadilly and Northern), Holborn (Central and Piccadilly), Waterloo (Bakerloo, Northern, Jubilee) and Charing Cross (Bakerloo, Northern). Note that Covent Garden station, which some of you may know is closer than many stations mentioned here, is undergoing some renovations and hence is "Exit only". The nearest bus stop is Aldywich, Somerset House. To plan journey by London public transportation you may use the website TFL.

Lecture Rooms

Registration on Monday morning and tea/coffee from Monday through to Thursday will be in K4U.17. To get to K4U.17 from the main entrance on Strand take the lifts that you see as you enter to level 5 (mathematics department). Take a U turn to your right and go down a flight of stairs, take a left turn, then straight and then a right turn through a door. You will see a large door on your left with "HZCM 1-4" written on top. As you enter this door you will have K4U.17 on your right. On Monday morning we will have student helpers at the main entrance on the Strand and on the fifth floor to direct you to K4U.17. The wine reception on Monday is at Macadam Terrace Cafe.

All talks from Monday to Thursday will be in K6.29 (The Anatomy Lecture Theatre in King's Building).

Talks on Friday will be in S-3.20 (3rd basement in the Strand building).

Tea/Coffee venue on Friday S-3.18.

Posters will be presented in K4U.17. We have also booked room K4.31 that is opposite K4U.17. It has some whiteboards and may be used during the tea/coffee breaks (or otherwise). Rooms S4.23, S4.36, S4.29 and S5.20 in the mathematics department have very boards and may be used for discussions whenever they are free (which we expect to be most times).

Internet access

For most of you 'eduroam' should work. If not you may use the 'KingsGuest' network with the username and password provided.

Local information

Some "local information", including suggestions for local restaurants, can be found at the webpage of IGST 2015 (courtesy Nikolay Gromov). Addition information can be found on this website. The King's College cafeteria, "Chapters", serves lunch between 1200 and 1400. It is decent food at a very cheap price. They usually have three choices on their menu (usually one vegetarian). They also have some "grab and go" options. It may often be crowded but perhaps worth checking out before exploring outside. There are a few of options next door in Somerset house - "Fernandez and Wells" serves good food at reasonable price, Pennethorne's cafe on the far side (West wing of Somerset house and accessible from Lancaster place) is also very good and "Tom's Kitchen" is (according to the map in above link) is "high-end comfort food besides river". There are several places for a quick lunch in all directions but perhaps more densely packed in the direction of Covent Garden. For dinner (and also generally) you may wish to explore the south bank.

Accommodation

Accommodation for invited speakers will be arranged. In the first instance, we would like to ask participants to arrange their own accommodation. There are several options close to King's College:
