By registering as a member of the London Universities' Council for Academic Freedom you agree that you support the principles of the council.

You agree that any information you request to be published on our website is accurate and appropriate. You agree that if you do post any inappropriate materials we may contact your institution to report this.

You agree for us to use your email to contact you in order to keep your membership details up to date. You may also ask to subscribe to our mailing list, but you may unsubscribe at any time. We will not pass your details to any third parties.

You agree to the use of any cookies required for website functionality. We will not use cookies to track your behaviour or for advertising.

All information we hold on you can be viewed by logging into the website and you may edit it if it is incorrect.

You may request for us to publish your details in our list of members. We reserve the right not to display your details and we will only display the details of individuals with valid institutional addresses.

For any personal data you provide via our online form, LUCAF is the Data Controller and is responsible for storing and otherwise processing that data in a fair, lawful, secure and transparent way.

You may give us information about you by filling in our online form. The information you give us may include your name, e-mail address, and information about your university affiliation.

Why we need your personal data

We need your email address to administer your membership and provide the membership services you are signing up to when you register. Our lawful basis for processing your personal data is that we have a contractual obligation to you as a member to provide the services you are registering for.

Members may log in to the website and view and amend all personal information themselves. They may opt out of communications via the website. They may choose what information is published in our list of members.

As a data subject you are not obliged to share your personal data with the LUCAF. If you choose not to share your personal data with us we may not be able to register or administer your membership.

GDPR

To achieve GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance we have the processes documented below. A record of the steps taken to ensure GDPR compliance is maintainted by the webmaster ("The GDPR spreadsheet").

Subject Access Request Process

If anyone wishes to view or amend their personal data they should do so themselves by logging in.

Breach Notification Process

If a data breach occurs the web master should be informed immediately. The webmaster will then add the record to the Breach Register in our GDPR spreadsheet and will notify the information commisioner of the breach within 72 hours of the breach occuring.

Privacy Policy

Our use of data is documented above and additionally in the GDPR spreadsheet. If any changes are made to how we use member data the privacy policy and spreadsheet must be updated. Members should be informed of relevant changes by email or in the newsletter and the date of communications should be recorded in the GDPR spreadsheet.
