Welcome to MatBio 2019

Student Conference

The students of the Algorithms and Data Analysis research group at King’s College London, invite post-graduate and post-doctoral students to the Student Conference on Mathematical Foundations in Bioinformatics (MatBio) on July 5th 2019, sponsored by the Department of Informatics at King’s College London.

We are now inviting students to submit abstracts to be considered for 20 minute oral presentations. Abstracts consist of a short summary of the work which is intended to be presented, and must be submitted by 26th June, 2019 using the abstract submission form below. Suitable topics for presentation include:

  • Sequence Analysis
  • Genomic Variation and Disease
  • Haplotypes and Population Genomics
  • Protein and RNA Analysis, Structure, and Dynamics
  • Metagenomics
  • Cancer Genomics
  • Systems Biology
  • Phylogenetics
  • Biological Networks and Integrative Analysis
  • Computational Drug Discovery
  • Biological Modelling
  • Text Mining and Classification
  • Advancing Algorithms and Methods
  • Big Data in Bioinformatics

Registration to attend the conference is free, and we strongly encourage students to attend, to benefit from the excellent networking opportunities and potential for driving further research. The previous years of MatBio in 2018, 2017 and 2016 have been huge successes, and we intend to carry this success forward to 2019.

We are kindly sponsored by the Health Hub in the Department of Informatics, King's College London.

Goals

The aim of MatBio 2019 is to further enable communication between early stage pioneers in the field and established academics. In particular we aim to enable the following:

  • Showcasing research
  • Academic networking
  • Future collaborations
  • Career advancement

Results

We expect this event will inspire professional networking, collaboration and future advancements in the careers of the postgraduates involved.
