Special Issue

Folowing the success of MatBio 2018, a Special Issue is being produced for the Journal of Discrete Algorithms. Guest editors are Neerja Mhaskar, W. F. Smyth and Steven Watts.

Student Conference

The students of the Algorithms and Data Analysis research group at King’s College London, invite post-graduate and post-doctoral students to the Student Conference on Mathematical Foundations in Bioinformatics (MatBio) on August 2nd 2018, sponsored by the Department of Informatics at King’s College London.

We are now inviting students to submit abstracts to be considered for 20 minute oral presentations. Abstracts consist of a short summary of the work which is intended to be presented, and must be submitted by 3rd July using the abstract submission form below. Suitable topics for presentation include:

• Genomic Variation and Disease
• Haplotypes and Population Genomics
• Protein and RNA Analysis, Structure, and Dynamics
• Metagenomics
• Cancer Genomics
• Systems Biology
• Phylogenetics
• Biological Networks and Integrative Analysis
• Computational Drug Discovery
• Biological Modelling
• Text Mining and Classification
• Advancing Algorithms and Methods
• Big Data in Bioinformatics

We endeavour to provide travel and accommodation support, with priority given to those succesfully submitting an accepted abstract application. Applications for travel support must be submitted by 10th July.

Registration to attend the conference is free, and we strongly encourage students to attend, to benefit from the excellent networking opportunities and potential for driving further research. The previous years of MatBio in 2016 and 2017 have been huge successes, and we intend to carry this success forward to 2018.
