TP Catalysing Vacuum Decay with Black Holes

colloquium Ruth Gregory (King's College London)

at:
14:30 - 15:30
KCL, Strand
room: K2.23 Nash Lecture Theatre
abstract:

The discovery of the Higgs a decade ago came with a dark side - the Higgs mass indicated that our vacuum might not be stable! I will first explain why this did not lead to another lawsuit trying to stop the LHC before reviewing my work with Ian Moss showing how primordial black holes can change the picture radically by acting as seeds for vacuum decay.
