Energy Efficient Multicast Routing

Multicasting is the transmission of data simultaneously from one source to multiple destinations within a telecommunications network. Until recently, applications which implement multicasting, such as video streaming, MMORPGs and online TV channels, have used the highly inefficient Unicast or Broadcast transmission facilities in their implementation. However, there exist numerous issues with true multicast implementations, including scalability, energy efficiency and the balancing of numerous optimisation criteria such as Quality of Service with other considerations. My research considers Local Search methods for Single and Multi-objective Optimization focusing on the Multicast Routing problem in various network types.
