H.K. Lam and F.H.F. Leung, Stability Analysis of Fuzzy-Model-Based Control Systems: Linear-Matrix-Inequality Approach, Springer, 2011

In this book, the state-of-the-art fuzzy-model-based (FMB) based control approaches are covered. A comprehensive review about the stability analysis of type-1 and type-2 FMB control systems using the Lyapunov-based approach is given, presenting a clear picture to researchers who would like to work on this field. A wide variety of continuous-time nonlinear control systems such as state-feedback, switching, time-delay and sampled-data FMB control systems, are covered. In short, this book summarizes the recent contributions of the authors on the stability analysis of the FMB control systems. It discusses advanced stability analysis techniques for various FMB control systems, and founds a concrete theoretical basis to support the investigation of FMB control systems at the research level. The analysis results of this book offer various mathematical approaches to designing stable and well-performed FMB control systems. Furthermore, the results widen the applicability of the FMB control approach and help put the fuzzy controller in practice. A wide range of advanced analytical and mathematical analysis techniques will be employed to investigate the system stability and performance of FMB-based control systems in a rigorous manner. Detailed analysis and derivation steps are given to enhance the readability, enabling the readers who are unfamiliar with the FMB control systems to follow the materials easily. Simulation examples, with figures and plots of system responses, are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed FMB control approaches.

PolynomialCover2016H.K. Lam, Polynomial Fuzzy Model-Based Control Systems: Stability Analysis and Control Synthesis Using Membership Function Dependent Techniques, 2016

This book covers membership-function-dependent analysis and control design techniques for polynomial fuzzy-model-based control systems developed by the author. It starts with a comprehensive literature review which provides an overview of the development of fuzzy-model-based control systems in the past two decades. Fundamental concepts, essential theories, preliminaries and important stability analysis results are thoroughly reviewed with support of numerical examples. It allows readers to grasp a general picture of fuzzy-model-based control systems, which is particularly useful for someone who is new to this field. The focus of this book will be on the stability analysis and control synthesis of polynomial fuzzy-model-based control systems. Advanced stability analysis based on sum-of-squares are covered offering effective analysis tools to investigate the polynomial fuzzy-model-based control systems. It proposes the membership-function-dependent stability analysis techniques which bring the information of membership functions into stability analysis and thus offer more relaxed stability analysis results compared with those in the literatures. Various control methodologies including full-state feedback, output-feedback and sampled-data control are considered to deal with stabilization, regulation and tracking control problems. Advanced switching and fuzzy polynomial Lyapunov function candidates are proposed to further relax the stability conditions using advanced mathematical analysis techniques. In all chapters, detailed mathematical steps are shown which allows readers to follow the analysis easier. Numerical examples with support of figures are provided to help the readers to grasp the concepts in an efficient way. The in-depth discussions on the polynomial fuzzy-model-based control systems and the membership-function-dependent analysis proposed in this book provide a concrete theoretical supports to researchers in the field.

IT2TSCover2016Hongyi Li, Ligang Wu, Hak-Keung Lam, Yabin Gao, Analysis and Synthesis for Interval Type-2 Fuzzy-Model-Based Systems, 2016

"This book develops a set of reference methods capable of modeling uncertainties existing in membership functions, and analyzing and synthesizing the interval type-2 fuzzy systems with desired performances. It also provides numerous simulation results for various examples, which fill certain gaps in this area of research and may serve as benchmark solutions for the readers. Interval type-2 T-S fuzzy models provide a convenient and flexible method for analysis and synthesis of complex nonlinear systems with uncertainties." Quoted from Sringer
